We exist
to proclaim the Gospel, 
​to the glory of God
in Jesus Christ.

We are a diverse community of repenting sinners who have been graciously reconciled to God and to one another through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  Our aim is to emphasize the truth and grace of the Gospel in everything we do.  Scripture is our final authority and guide for faith and practice.  To that end, our desire is to reflect, with God's help, what Scripture teaches a church should be and do.

La Plata Baptist Church was established in 1981 by a few members from Allentown Baptist Church already living in Southern Maryland. They felt led to plant a Gospel-preaching church closer to this area.  By God's grace the church grew out of a home bible study here in La Plata. Today, La Plata Baptist Church is still faithfully proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 

We are in friendly cooperation with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware, the Potomac Baptist Association, and the Pillar Network.
